Online Editing

There’s more to finishing than just color grading. Every project requires technical attention and visual effects treatment, and Locomotive can often perform these services in-house. Here’s a sample of the tasks we regularly perform:

• Reframing • Transcoding • Dirt/dust removal • Motion graphics
• De-interlacing • Standards conversions • Keying • Packaging
• Pan and scan • Legalization • Tracking • Titling and Credits
• Motion stabilization • Color space conversions • Compositing • And much more…

We evaluate each project individually and can execute any or all of the above services using an extensive set of digital and hardware tools, retaining and enhancing the creative intent of the edited sequence.

We offer full support for projects edited in Avid, Final Cut Pro, or Adobe Premiere.

Delivery

Theatrical

Finishing content for the big screen presents unique challenges. From frame sizes larger than 1080p to special wide-gamut color-spaces, theatrical projection is not just HDTV on a larger scale. At Locomotive we can work in 2K and above natively and we calibrate our screens to represent the proper color space, whether you’re delivering a Digital Cinema Package or DPX image sequence for eventual film-out.

Working in partnership with cinema distribution facilities, we can ensure that the DCP you receive will play back and look perfect on the major industry-standard projectors. We can also arrange film tests to confirm that the film stock you print to responds as you expect.

Broadcast

Our extensive experience with broadcast technical documentation allows us to help clients negotiate specifications and requirements with distributors based upon the state of the product, budget, and proposed distribution channels. Sometimes a seemingly-onerous requirement can be eliminated, saving valuable money and time. We will also raise easy-to-address issues that may not be part of the requirements now, but would cost much more to fix later.

We then create any HD/SD tape masters in both NTSC/PAL Standards — including full frame, pan and scan for 4×3, and anamorphic aspect ratios with whatever number of channels of audio your deliverables require.

Web

Media content on the web presents great opportunities for targeted distribution and rich interactive features that theatrical and broadcast models cannot; yet the lack of technical standards means web content can easily fall short of the intended quality.

At Locomotive, we compensate for color gamma shifts and audio sync prior to encoding and then package and test web videos across multiple browsers and display types to ensure the quality of each web deliverable.

Mobile

Mobile browsing and applications are providing a platform for consumers to purchase and view media content when and where they choose.

Besides encoding, scaling, and testing media for mobile viewing, Locomotive is able to manage the design and execution of custom mobile apps for the delivery of your content through our industry-leading developer partners.
